Job Description

We are looking to appoint a passionate and experienced Assistant Centre Director/Educational Leader who will support the Centre Director in the daily operations of the centre and leading pedagogy and practice. The key requirements of the role are as follows:  

  • Work in partnership with the Centre Director to lead and develop a team of educators and teachers to deliver high quality education and care outcomes.  
  • Support the Centre Director in the day to day management and leadership of the centre.   
  • Coach and mentor educators and teachers in-line with the centre’s vision for pedagogical excellence. 
  • Build and nurture respectful relationships with Gowrie colleagues, families and community stakeholders including local schools and support services.  
  • Ensure  compliance with national standards, legislation and regulations as well as organisational policies and procedures.  
  • Engage collaboratively within Gowrie’s  Educational Leader network and other support structures and resources

Essential Requirements for the role: 

  • Degree in Early Childhood Education with proficient Teacher Accreditation (NESA)

  • Educational Leader experience ( minimum 5 years) 

  • Current compliance certificates (e.g. WWCC / WWVP etc.)  

  • Completion of approved Child Protection course 

  • Current approved first aid, CPR, anaphylaxis and asthma management certificates  

  • Experience in past leadership roles in early childhood education 

  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of the National Quality Standards, legislation, Early Years Learning Framework and contemporary pedagogies that influence practice  

  • Open to learning, well organised and clear communicator with effective verbal and written skills
